Back in November, Thomas Dale (Chester, VA) junior CJ Reavis said he was “waiting on one offer. If I get it, that’s it.”
The 6’1″, 195-pound safety prospect has yet to receive that offer, but he is hopeful it will come soon. In this latest interview, though, he admits he would not immediately accept.
“I should be getting an offer soon,” said Reavis, who did not disclose the name of the school he is referring to. “If I get it, I’ll still take a look at other schools.”
Reavis has received 10 scholarship offers, including Boston College, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, N.C. State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and West Virginia. He is getting serious interest from Clemson — the school he will visit this Saturday — and others. On March 23, Reavis plans to make a return visit to Virginia Tech, a school that has been high on his list for some time.
Tech has signed two players from Thomas Dale in each of the past two recruiting classes, including Desmond Frye in the class of 2012 and DJ Reid in the class of 2013. Frye, in particular, is a close friend of Reavis’. Primary recruiter Shane Beamer has also helped to put Tech in good standing with the Dale rising senior.
“He is real down to earth and cool, and he talks about more than football,” Reavis said of Shane Beamer.
Up until this past week, Virginia Tech was considered the clear favorite if Reavis were to stay in the Commonwealth. UVa has now vaulted into serious contention as well, thanks to two recent developments. The first was 5-star junior safety Quin Blanding’s decision to commit to the Hoos.
