Virginia Tech’s first one-day camp of 2012 is upon us.  It takes place this Sunday, June 3, and TSL will be on hand to cover the event.  We’ll have updates and any late breaking news on Sunday and in the days following, but for now lets take a look at some of those notable recruits we’ve confirmed for Sunday.

Big-Time Rising Junior Set To Attend

– Woodbridge (VA) defensive end Da’Shawn Hand , quite possibly the top recruit in the nation in the class of 2014, will be at Tech’s camp on Sunday after a stop at UVa on Saturday.  The 6’4″, 245-pound sophomore has cleared the 30-scholarship mark, boasting offers from some of the nation’s top programs.  Tech’s camp is one of two the Vikings standout plans on attending this year, with Alabama being the other.

– Lake Taylor (Norfolk, VA) defensive end/tight end Jalyn Holmes also boasts double-digit scholarship offers as a sophomore.  The 6’4″, 200-pound prospect tells that he will attend a Virginia Tech came this year.  He doesn’t get specific, but there is a chance he is in Blacksburg on Sunday as well.

Hank Sawyer’s squad boasts two of the top prospects in the state of Virginia’s 2014 class in Holmes and wide receiver Jamil Kamara.

Thomas Dale’s Reid May Not Visit After All

D.J. Reid is scheduled to visit Tech tomorrow, but Thomas Dale (Chester, VA) head coach Kevin Tucker says track may keep the 6’0″, 190-pound running back/athlete from doing so.  If Reid does well in the state track meet today, he will compete again tomorrow.
