Nine schools, including four FBS programs, have offered 6’5″, 290-pound href=”/player/Jonathan-McLaughlin-2377/”>Jonathan McLaughlin, who is taking his talents to Blacksburg on Saturday to compete in Virginia Tech’s one-day camp. The Mauldin (S.C.) standout offensive tackle spoke with primary recruiter Bud Foster once in May and again in June, but where he stands offer-wise is unclear heading into this weekend.
“[Coach Foster] wanted me to come to camp. He got my film. I called him a month ago and told him I was coming,” McLaughlin said. “He said he is looking forward to seeing me.”
Wake Forest was the first major offer for McLaughlin, who has since added East Carolina, Florida International and Marshall to his FBS-level offer list. Coastal Carolina, Furman, Hampton, Liberty, and South Carolina State have offered as well. McLaughlin initially wanted to commit by the end of the summer, and that may still happen, but there is the real possibility that he waits until the fall.
“I’m still in my [decision-making] process,” McLaughlin said. “I’m still seeing campuses, meeting coaches and stuff. I’m still keeping my options open.”
