In the weeks following the Orange Bowl loss to Stanford, it became fairly
obvious that Virginia Tech could only do one thing to elevate their program from
the current level: get better players. Frank Beamer made some
changes to the coaching staff in the offseason in an effort to improve
recruiting, and Tech is off to a very good start so far.
If you are only a casual follower of recruiting, let’s get you caught up to
speed. So far, the Hokies have verbal commitments from 12 different prospects.

Tech’s 2012 class is about half finished right now, and it’s only June 9.
They’ve still got one more recruiting camp left in July, which represents one
more opportunity to find and offer prospects. They’ve also got the entire 2011
high school season to identify some diamonds in the rough.
