Today’s Friday Q&A talks about football and basketball. It’s never too
early to look towards next season in both sports. What will Tech’s starting
lineup look like in hoops next year, and in football, who will start on the
offensive line this year? Also, what are Tech’s chances in the ACC Tournament,
and are the Hokies playing an elimination game against Clemson tomorrow?

1) What will Virginia Tech’s basketball starting five look like next season?

CC: It’s never too early to talk about things like this. I think there
are three guys who will start for certain: Erick Green, Dorenzo Hudson and
Victor Davila. These are three very reliable players who should all be improved
next season.

Green has proven this year to be one of the ACC’s better point guards, and
should only get better. Hudson was a third team All-ACC performer a year ago.
Davila is no star, but he’s a solid ACC post player. If he can get a little
better hands, he could average in double figures I think.

The big question is who is going to fill the other starting spots: the three
spot (small forward), and the other post position. Right now, I’ll throw Jarell
Eddie and J.T. Thompson in there, which would make the lineup look something
like this.

Starting Five
Pos. Player Yr.
G Erick Green Jr.
G Dorenzo Hudson r-Sr.
F Jarell Eddie So.
F J.T. Thompson r-Sr.
F Victor Davila Sr.

There is plenty of experience and plenty of talent in that starting lineup to be
competitive in the ACC. I think Jarell Eddie will be improved, and he’ll only
get better as his minutes go up. He could be challenged by incoming freshman
