Hokies Back to the Underdog Role

For those of you who didn’t pay close attention to Tech sports over
Christmas, the men’s basketball program received even more bad news. Starting
guard Dorenzo Hudson and reserve forward Cadarian Raines are now out for the
season with medical redshirts, leaving the Hokies with eight scholarship players
and one walk-on. The Hokies are as thin as a team can be.

Actually, they are so thin they are basically invisible. A few months ago,
this looked like a basketball team that could go 11 or 12 players deep, with
good size in the frontcourt. Now the Hokies are reduced to playing mostly zone
to keep their players fresh and out of foul trouble. More on zone defense later.
