Virginia Tech started 4-4 in basketball, and they didn’t look like an NCAA
Tournament caliber team. Since then they’ve won two games in a row, they are
playing much better offensively, and a quick look at their RPI and strength of
schedule shows that the Hokies are still in the hunt for a bid to the Big Dance.
Before we get into the numbers, let’s look at one of the keys to why the
Hokies have played better recently.
Erick Green into the Starting Lineup
Dorenzo Hudson has been banged up and ineffective for much of the season, and
he couldn’t go against Penn State. The Hokies inserted Erick Green into the
starting lineup and the offense improved dramatically. Green started again
against Mississippi State, and the Hokies took another step forward.
Green has fared very well statistically in both games.
