From top to bottom, this 2010 Hokie football team is the best looking Tech team
that I’ve ever seen, from a physical standpoint. None of these guys are fat and
out of shape, and even third string linebackers have the build of a starter.
That’s probably the main thing that everyone could take away from Saturday’s
scrimmage. These guys look the part.
The last time I was this impressed was 2005 when I watched the Virginia Tech
defense. If you’ll recall, this was Tech’s starting defense in 2005:

The most impressive thing about that team was the size of the defensive backs
and linebackers. The smallest defensive back (except when D.J. Parker was in at
free safety) was Roland Minor, who was 6-0, 205. That was a scary looking
secondary, and when you consider James Anderson’s size at the whip spot, that
was an impressive looking defense.
