The Virginia Tech staff received some big-time news on the recruiting front today. Brookville (Lynchburg, VA) defensive end Zack McCray , one of the top overall prospects in the state of Virginia’s 2010 class, strolled into Rector Field House this morning, decked out in Virginia Tech gear and ready to make a verbal commitment to Frank Beamer and company during Tech’s first senior camp.
“I actually just committed to Virginia Tech,” the 6-5, 235-pound McCray told TechSideline.com.
McCray, who racked up 20 sacks last season as a junior, becomes Tech’s ninth commitment for the 2010 class. He is Tech’s third defensive line recruit in this class, joining defensive tackle prospects Nick Acree and Derrick Hopkins.
Stay tuned for more on McCray later today.
Other notables confirmed to be in attendance so far…
Other confirmed visitors at Tech’s camp today include commitments Acree, Rockbridge County (Lexington, VA) OL Caleb Farris and Pulaski County (Dublin, VA) LB Tahrick Peak. Evan Hailes, a top rising senior defensive tackle out of Oscar Smith High School (Chesapeake, VA), is also in attendance but is not participating. Hailes, a 6-1, 300-pound prospect, has 20-plus Division 1A offers including one from Virginia Tech.
