Shuman Commits to VT Staff

Mark Shuman had planned to wait until Saturday before telling Virginia Tech’s coaches that he was accepting their scholarship offer, but, with the news of his decision already out, he decided to expedite things. Earlier this evening, Shuman, a 6-7, 285-pound offensive tackle prospect out of Fork Union Military Academy (VA), pledged to the Tech coaching staff.

“I called tonight about 6:45 and talked to Coach Cav, Coach Newsome and Coach Beamer. I told them I was committing,” Shuman said.

“Coach Beamer and Coach Newsome, I liked how excited they were to have me. I liked the energy they had. Their energy was great. Coach Newsome, Coach Cav and Coach Beamer…I love all the coaches. I’m glad to be part of their program.”

Shuman, who boasted close to 20 Division 1A scholarship offers before committing to the Hokies, decided last Sunday that Virginia Tech was where he wanted to attend. He had been leaning towards waiting at least until the summer to commit, but decided to end things sooner.
