2009 Spring Practice Preview: Offensive Line

Virginia Tech will have a talented, experienced quarterback under center in
2009, and they will have a number of good players at the skill positions. They
shouldn’t have much trouble making plays offensively this year. However, whether
or not they can move the ball consistently will come down to the performance of
the offensive line, which always seems to be a question mark.

For the past two seasons, the Tech offensive line has gotten off to a bad
start, but played much better at the end of the season. The 2009 schedule is so
front loaded with good teams that the line will have to be good at the beginning
of the season this year. They can’t wait until November to start playing well.

It’s very difficult to project a depth chart this spring. We’ll mostly go
with the default lineup based on the depth chart from the end of the season.
