Virginia Tech’s latest verbal is one of the top defensive prospects in the state of South Carolina, a state the Hokies have enjoyed success in these past few years. After signing the top linebacker Bruce Taylor in the 2008 class, the staff had already landed Palmetto state cornerback recruit Jerrodd Williams in this year’s class before today.
Marlboro County (Bennettsville, S.C.) outside linebacker/defensive end Tariq Edwards, a 6-4, 225-pound prospect, has decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and will play his college football at Virginia Tech.

“At first I was thinking Virginia Tech wanted to put me at outside linebacker,” Edwards said. “But, most players beef up once they’re in college. I could see myself beefing up and moving to defensive end.”
