Virginia Tech lost four senior defensive linemen off the 2007 squad. Carlton
Powell, Barry Booker and Kory Robertson are gone at defensive tackle, while
defensive end Chris Ellis’ departure leaves line coach Charley Wiles with a
position to fill on the edge. Talent is not a problem up front for the Hokies,
but depth could be.

Here is a look at what the depth chart could look like heading into the start
of practice, which begins on Monday, August 4. This depth chart is not official,
it’s merely our best guess.

There is only one senior defensive lineman on the roster, so it’s clear that
in 2009, Tech’s defensive line will be very impressive. However this is 2008, so
let’s take a look what we can expect this year.
