Ocean Lakes (Virginia Beach, VA) wide receiver Randall Dunn , now up to five Division 1A scholarship offers, hopes to make at least four official visits before choosing his future school. The 6-3, 212-pound senior has already made one official and has three more planned for the month of January.
Dunn’s second official visit was supposed to be to Penn State this past weekend. But, due to weather concerns, the trip was cancelled and the Ocean Lakes star is not sure if he will reschedule. Up next is an official visit to UNC on the weekend of January 11th, and he plans to follow that up with an official visit to Virginia Tech on the 18th and one to UVa on the 25th.
Dunn does intend to follow through in making these scheduled officials, though he didn’t rule out the possibility of an earlier decision.
“With the whole recruiting thing, most coaches tell me the sooner the better,” Dunn said. “I would like to take all of my officials, though. If I run into a school I fall in love with, I could end up committing sooner. There will be nothing over the holidays. I would like to some visits.”
Virginia Tech remains the favorite in this race. “Tech is very strong,” Dunn says.
But he is interested in seeing what UNC and UVa have to offer.
“I’m just going to check out UNC as a whole,” Dunn said. “I know it is a program on the rise, so I want to give them an equal look. The same thing with Virginia. Plus, I know Virginia has a need for receivers. Coach Price told me he wanted me to give them the opportunity to show me what they have to offer.”
Coaches from U-Conn, Virginia and Virginia Tech made in-home visits with Dunn last week. Besides those three schools, Dunn also has official offers from North Carolina and Penn State.
