6-3, 212-pound Ocean Lakes (Virginia Beach, VA) wide receiver Randall Dunn made his first official visit this past weekend, traveling to Storrs, Connecticut, to check out the University of Connecticut. Dunn discussed this weekend’s trip, whether or not U-Conn is a serious player in his recruitment and what is in store next in his decision-making process.

Dunn, who was in familiar company over the weekend with fellow Ocean Lakes standout Marcus Davis and Salem star Kevin Whaley, returned home yesterday. All three players were on official visits.

“It went really well,” Dunn said of the experience.. “I got to see their nice facilities and what the campus had to offer. The players were real cool and welcoming people.”

Dunn says that he is considering the Huskies seriously, but at this point Virginia Tech remains the team to beat.

“They are still really strong,” Dunn said of Virginia Tech. “They still lead.”

An official visit to Blacksburg could come this weekend.

“I might have one this weekend, but I’m not sure. I’ll have to talk with Coach Newsome again,” Dunn said.

Besides Connecticut and Virginia Tech, Dunn also boasts an offer from UVa and is receiving very serious interest from North Carolina and Penn State. He expects to learn very soon whether or not UNC and/or Penn State will offer.

“I talked with coaches from Penn State and UNC last week,” Dunn noted. “They both told me they would get back with me [today]. Other schools have come, too. I’ve spoken with Coach Newsome. U-Conn coaches came and met with my parents. So did Coach Price from UVa.”

At this point, Dunn still plans on making all five official visits. He would not rule out the possibility of deciding sooner, though.

“I would like to, but you never know,” Dunn said of making all five official visits. “I might get to a place and it just feels right and commit there.”
