Price Enjoying Big Senior Season

South Lakes (Reston, VA) senior wide receiver A.J. Price is enjoying a breakout season, having tallied 20 receptions for 611 yards and 8 touchdowns in six games. The 6-4, 170-pound prospect is hoping his senior season success equates to Division 1 scholarship offers, and he could hear something soon on that front.

South Lakes head coach John Ellenberger believes Price is one of the most dynamic prospects South Lakes has ever had.

“We’re always going to have skill kids here,” Ellenberger said. “We’ve had some really good receivers over the years. No one has been a real, real big-time prospect. We’ve had some good ones, but A.J. is the best we’ve ever had. He is an exceptional, exceptional athlete. The only knock on the kid is that he was at a private school for a couple of years and didn’t hit the weight room. He is what I call Randy Moss-skinny. He is thin, but he is 6-4 ,170 pounds and I’d think he runs about a 4.5 in the 40. He makes play after play. He has made some unreal one-handed catches in the past few games.

“We feel like he is a D1 kid. Right now, we are getting film out. Anthony Poindexter from Virginia and Torrian Gray from Virginia Tech received film at the end of last week, so we are just giving them some time to evaluate. We’ll see what happens. We should know more within the next week.”
