For me, wide receiver was and continues to be the biggest offensive need for Virginia Tech. Four very talented players – Justin Harper, Josh Hyman, Josh Morgan and Eddie Royal – run out of eligibility after the 2007 season, so Virginia Tech has to restock for the future (and landing one or two prospects who could play immediately wouldn’t hurt, either). Only one of Virginia Tech’s 17 commitments seems destined to play wide receiver and that is Smithfield’s Dyrell Roberts. Roberts, who has been told by the Tech staff that he will play wide receiver, has terrific explosiveness and looks the part of a dynamic receiver even though he primarily plays running back in high school.
