VT Commits Reflect on Official Visits

Virginia Tech hosted a number of official visitors last weekend. Only Salem (Virginia Beach, VA) defensive lineman Chima Okoli was uncommitted, as the rest had previously committed to the Hokies. TechSideline.com caught up with three committed recruits – Northwest (Germantown, MD) DL Justin Young, Varina DB Davon Morgan and Warren Central (Indianapolis, IN) RB Darren Evans for comments on their experiences in Blacksburg.

Young discusses his itinerary from last weekend…

“I got there on Friday,” Young said. “I arrived at 4:00 p.m. or so. I came with my mother and father. I checked into [Hawthorne Suites]. I was met at the hotel by Coach Sherman. He took me and my parents to dinner at a café on campus. It was good food. They had ribs, steak, lobster…they had a lot of stuff. I met up with Coach Wiles at the restaurant. All of the recruits who were taking official visits were there with their hosts, family and the coaches. After that, I chilled with Nekos Brown. We went to Nekos’ dorm and hung out and my parents stayed with the coaches.

“On Saturday, we went out to breakfast. Everybody was there – all the recruits were there. The Athletic Director talked to us and then Coach Beamer talked to us a little bit. After that, me and my parents met with some academic people. I think I’m going to major in either Business or Finance. Then we ate lunch. After lunch, I had a meeting with Coach Beamer and then a meeting with Coach Wiles. Coach Beamer said he was glad to have me for the upcoming season. He said this was one of the best recruiting classes he has had. He wanted to know how I was doing and what I was doing to be in shape for when I arrive. Coach Wiles went over his expectations of me for when I arrive. After meeting with them, then I chilled with my host again. For dinner, we went to the stadium and had dinner in one of the suites. That was nice. I overlooked the field as I was eating. The food was good. I talked to a few of the players. I caught up with Ike [Whitaker]. After dinner, I chilled some more with Nekos. My parents went to Coach Beamer’s house for ice cream.
