Varina (VA) star defensive end/linebacker Bud Tribbey have set a date to announce their college intentions.

“Bud and Jamar will announce their college plans at 1:45 on Friday, December 15 at Varina High School in the Communication Center,” Varina Offensive Coordinator Blanda Wolfe said this morning via e-mail.

Jackson, a 6-4, 230-pound prospect, has earned first-team all-Central region honors at defensive end for his senior season performance. He is down to Florida State and Virginia Tech. Boston College was very much in the race as well until the departure of Tom O’Brien to N.C. State.

Virginia Tech Head Coach Frank Beamer was in-home with Jackson last night, while Florida State Head Coach Bobby Bowden is expected in-home tonight. Jackson made official visits to both schools.

Tribbey, a 6-0, 288-pound recruit, also earned first-team all-Central region honors for his senior season performance at defensive tackle. He is down to Syracuse and Virginia Tech.

Tribbey made an official visit to Syracuse this past weekend and also had an in-home visit from Coach Beamer last night. He made an official visit to Virginia Tech back in September.

Jackson and Tribbey will be the latest Blue Devil players to commit to Division 1A programs. Davon Morgan, a 6-0, 188-pound safety, has committed to Virginia Tech. Marell Evans, the Central Region Defensive Player of the Year, committed to Michigan this past weekend.
