Da’Norris Searcy made his first official visit last weekend, when he went to Ole Miss. Perhaps more importantly, he will head to UNC this weekend on an official. The 6-0, 205-pound Towers (Decatur, GA) standout committed to the Tar Heels this past summer and recently opened his recruitment back up.
Asked if he could solidify his commitment to UNC after this weekend or if he would make more official visits, Searcy answered “I see myself taking more visits.”
He reflected on his recent trip to Ole Miss.
“It was nice,” Searcy said. “They treated us real well. I had a chance to tour the facilities and everything. I like Coach Orgeron. He gets so fired up about coaching.”
Following the trip, Searcy says Ole Miss is “neck and neck” with North Carolina. He plans to talk with new UNC Head Coach Butch Davis today and looks forward to getting to know him this weekend.
As for Virginia Tech, Searcy has set up an official visit with the Hokies on the weekend of January 20th. Coach Torrian Gray has been the main person in contact for Tech, where the Georgia prep standout attended camp this past summer.
The University of Maryland is the other program being mentioned by Searcy. He has not set up an official visit with the Terrapins, but he says he is “thinking about it.”
On defense his senior season, Searcy accounted for over 70 tackles. He played defensive back this past season and projects as a safety/linebacker on the next level. Virginia Tech is recruiting him as a potential rover/safety prospect.
