Gerald Jones , a 6-0, 190-pound athlete recruit out of Millwood (OK), was scheduled to take an official visit to Virginia Tech back in September. He didn’t make the trip and has not rescheduled an official visit at this time. Are the Hokies still recruiting the talented prospect?
“I tried to call Coach O’Cain, but I haven’t been able to reach him. I haven’t talked to him in about a month, so that’s not good. My phone was messed up for a little bit, so he may have tried to reach me then. Whenever I’ve called him, he hasn’t been in either,” Jones said.
Despite not having been in contact with his primary recruiter from Virginia Tech, Jones still wants to set an official visit to Blacksburg.
“No doubt. I want to set up an official visit to Virginia Tech,” Jones said. “If I can set up one in December, I will do that.”
Jones has taken two official visits – to Texas Tech and Tennessee, respectively – and has set one other.
“Both of my official visits stood out pretty well,” Jones said. “I loved everything about both schools. Next, I am supposed to go to Florida on the 12th of December. I am also looking at going to Virginia Tech and Notre Dame. I want to take all five official visits.”
Jones claims no favorites at this point and likely won’t until he makes all five official visits. For now, he is focused on finishing out his senior season in fine fashion. Millwood finished up the regular season at 9-1 and is now in the second round of the playoffs.
The starting quarterback for Millwood, Jones says he has 1,750 yards passing and 1,500 yards rushing on the season. He likely projects as a wide receiver, running back or cornerback on the next level.
