Malcolm Delaney , a 6-3, 170-pound shooting guard out of Towson Catholic (Baltimore, MD) will be on the Virginia Tech campus this weekend on an official visit. Delaney is rated a four-star prospect by and a three-star recruit by

According to Towson Catholic head coach Josh Pratt, Delaney could make a decision in the near future.

“He’s planning on making a decision soon,” Pratt said. “Besides Virginia Tech, other schools that are interested are Indiana, Kansas State, Iowa State and Maryland. Those are the schools that have called me.”

As a junior last season, Delaney averaged 19 points and four assists per game. He seems like a natural two-guard who can run the point when necessary.

“I consider him more of a combo,” Pratt said. “That’s what he’s going to play for me. He can do many things and he’s actually a pretty big guard. It depends on each game. If I ask him to score, he can score. If I ask him to distribute the ball a little bit more, he does that. He can really shoot it. Sometimes I ask him to penetrate and distribute more and that takes away from his shooting, but he can shoot it.”

Delaney has also been a clutch player for Coach Pratt.

“He had two really good games last year, and one was in the semifinal game against St. Francis,” Pratt recalled. “He hit four 3s in the fourth quarter. He made five 3s in the fourth quarter against Loyola one time.

“He’s just a tremendous player. He really is. He’s going to be a special kid. He’s really dedicated himself in the weight room this summer and I think that’s changed his game.”

Stay tuned, as we will follow up with Malcolm following his visit to Virginia Tech. He arrives on campus on Saturday.
