According to Fork Union head coach John Shuman, wide receiver dynamo Jacoby Ford narrowed his list of schools last night. Ford, a 5-9, 170-pound prospect with blazing speed, has seen his recruitment take off over the past few months.
“I met with him yesterday and here is what he put up on the board,” Shuman said. “He put Virginia, Virginia Tech, Florida, Michigan State, Clemson, West Virginia and he’s waiting to hear from Florida State, Miami and Georgia.”
Asked if he had a sense of where Ford may be leaning, Shuman answered “You never know.” Ford does plan on taking several official visits before making a decision. He may end up taking all five trips.
“He’s going to Michigan State this weekend,” Shuman said. “We’re going to be at Virginia Tech on November 10th, so I told him he should look around, take a tour of the place, meet everybody and decide if he wants to set up a visit there. I’ve talked to him about taking an official visit to Virginia for the first weekend in December, but we’ll see what happens there.”
Virginia head coach Al Groh stopped by Fork Union on Monday. How did the meeting between Shuman and Groh go?
“It went pretty good,” Shuman said. “I told Coach Groh that this is the kid he needs to get to get Fork Union back on his roster. This is a kid that could play every down all four years. Coach Groh said he reminds him of Hagans and Curry. Ford’s just a playmaker with a lot of speed.”
Ford is having an outstanding season at FUMA. In eight games, he has scored 14 touchdowns.
