Oscar Smith (Chesapeake, VA) quarterback/athlete Greg Boone made his 2nd official visit earlier this month, when he went to the University of Maryland on the weekend of December 17th-19th. Boone says the visit was slightly different from the previous weekend’s trip to Virginia Tech.
“They had exams and a lot of people were gone,” Boone said. “But it was still a good visit. I’ve been there when there were students on campus, so I know what it’s like. I like that you can go to more than one place. You can go to Baltimore or Washington D.C. There’s more things to do than just stay on campus.”
Overall, how does Maryland compare to Virginia Tech?
“I’d say they compare about the same,” Boone said. “At Maryland, there is more places to go. At Virginia Tech, you stay on campus. I sort of like both. I don’t really like to go out too much, but it’s nice to have options.”
Next month, Boone has official visits scheduled to West Virginia (January 14th) and UNC (January 21st). The 6-4, 250-pound prospect may take another visit as well.
“I only have visits to West Virginia and UNC right now, but I might end up taking a visit to Pittsburgh too,” Boone said. “I want to talk to the coach in person first. Coach Wannstedt has already called me on the phone and says they are coming down to see me. He said they have already seen my film and he thinks I would fit in well with the system they run.”
Boone, who says he “doesn’t have a leader” right now, stated the factors that will be most important to him when he makes his decision.
“I’m looking at the quarterback situation, how well I fit in with the coaching staff and the players and what I probably will major in,” Boone said. He is being recruited by all of his finalists as a quarterback, but could switch positions on the next level.
