New Bern’s (NC) star tailback prospect Montario Hardesty reportedly had narrowed his list to 2 schools and was considering a decision soon. Is this true?
“I’d say Tennessee and UNC are probably at the top,” Hardesty said. “But I haven’t narrowed down anything yet though. Coach Wiles from Virginia Tech is coming in [tonight], and I’m also considering Clemson and N.C. State.”
Hardesty goes to the Shrine Bowl this weekend. The game itself is actually on December 18th. Is there a possibility Hardesty decides this week or next?
“I’m not sure,” Hardesty replied when asked if he would make a decision before or during the Shrine Bowl week. “It’s a possibility.”
Last weekend, the 6-0, 195-pound star made an official visit to UNC. The visit went very well for the Tar Heels, propelling them to the top of Hardesty’s list along with Tennessee.
“The UNC visit was good,” Hardesty said. “I got to meet with the coaches and really the running backs coach. I really liked the campus. It’s actually a big campus with a lot of different things. I think the program is on the rise.”
So what does Hardesty like about his top 2?
“For Tennessee, I like the stadium, the facilities and I like the running backs coach,” Hardesty said. “I think UNC is a place on the rise. It’s close to home and I know a lot of players there.”
And Virginia Tech?
“I like the coaches and the fans,” Hardesty said of Virginia Tech.
