Rock Hill (Northwestern, SC) star defensive back Jamie Robinson, rated a 4-star prospect by Rivals.com and a 3-star by Scout.com, is drawing interest from schools in the ACC and SEC. So who has offered?

“I don’t have any written offers right now,” Robinson said. “I do have verbal offers from Florida State, Clemson, UNC and Tennessee and I think that’s it. I’m not sure why I don’t have any written offers yet.”

Those schools that have verbally offered are keeping in weekly contact with Robinson. So is Virginia Tech, which Robinson listed as one of his top 3 schools.

“I’d say my top 3 are Florida State, Clemson and Virginia Tech,” Robinson said. He said location is not a factor for him. “For Virginia Tech, I like that they have my major – Psychology. They have the best program for my major of any of the schools I’m looking at. They have a good football program.

“I’ve always liked FSU. I liked them growing up. I liked the campus when I visited. The atmosphere was great for the Virginia game.

“I’ve been to Clemson a couple of times. They have a nice coaching staff and great facilities.”

Robinson says he will visit Virginia Tech this month for an unofficial visit.

“I talk to them weekly,” Robinson said of Virginia Tech. “They say they are really interested. They talk to me about getting me up for a game. I plan on going to the Virginia game. It would be my first visit there.”

All of these schools are recruiting Robinson as a cornerback. At 6-1, 185-pounds, he runs a 4.5 in the 40-yard dash. While he is big and athletic, Robinson says his on-the-field intelligence separates him from other prospects.

“I just try to be smart out there,” Robinson said. He has 9 interceptions and 20 pass break-ups this year in 10 games. His team is 10-0. “I’m physical too.”

Academically, Robinson claims a 3.3 GPA and has scored an 890 on the SAT.
