Eastern Regional (Voorhees, NJ) star tailback/cornerback Jahre Cheeseman ‘s first official visit will be on the weekend of September 24th, when he travels to Virginia Tech. That weekend, the Hokies face off against the N.C. State Wolfpack.
In December, Jahre plans on making an official visit to Penn State. Tech and Penn State are at the top of his list of schools right now.
“They are probably my top two schools,” Cheeseman said, referring to Virginia Tech and Penn State. “I feel the most comfortable with the atmosphere at both schools. I like the football level at each school and the level of academics.”
Cheeseman had originally planned to take visits to Tennessee and Virginia in addition to Virginia Tech and Penn State. But since he has not heard from either Tennessee or UVa this month, he is reconsidering those official visits.
“I’m sure about the first 2 visits, but I’m not sure about the other 3,” Cheeseman said. “I’ve heard from Virginia Tech but not Virginia. I’m not sure about my situation with [Virginia]. I think I’m going to call to see what’s up, and then go from there.”
Some other schools under consideration include Maryland, Michigan State, Rutgers and Syracuse. Cheeseman unofficially visited the University of Maryland a few weeks ago for the Northern Illinois game. He called the experience “nice. I liked it.”
Though he’s looking forward to his experience at Tech next weekend, do not expect a decision any time soon.
“I think I’m going to wait,” Cheeseman said. “I might not wait until Signing Day, but I will wait some.”
Eastern won their season opener, defeating Willingborough 20-8. At tailback, Cheeseman rushed for 100 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Eastern is the defending state champion.
