Lakewood (Sumter, SC) running back J.C. Neal knows 4 schools he wants to officially visit this Fall. The 6-1, 183-pound tailback prospect hopes to set these official visits before the contact period begins in September.

“I haven’t set any visits, but I know where I want to make my official visits,” Neal said. “I want to visit FSU, Maryland, Georgia Tech and Auburn. I may set my visit dates before September to get it out of the way.”

Two teams noticeably missing from the official visit list are N.C. State and Virginia Tech. Because he has visited both schools twice, Neal feels he may not need to make official visits to each. He didn’t rule out a visit to each, but right now it looks like he will use his official trips to see other schools.

“I’ve been up to both of them a lot already,” Neal said. “I still might visit both of them again, but I’ve been to N.C. State twice and Virginia Tech twice.”

N.C. State and Virginia Tech have been at the top of Neal’s list since this summer began. Maryland is now at the top of Neal’s list as well.

“Yes they are, and Maryland is up there too,” Neal said when asked if N.C. State and Virginia Tech are still his favorite schools. “I haven’t visited [Maryland] yet. I want to go visit. They’re telling me a lot, but I want to see for myself what it’s all about. I’ve done some research on them, and they do have a good computer program.”

N.C. State and Virginia Tech continue to be favorites, but for different reasons. Neal likes State’s coaching staff. For Virginia Tech, he has felt comfortable on each of his visits to Blacksburg.

“I like their coaching staff a lot,” Neal said of N.C. State. “I feel like I would be a good fit in their offense.

“What I like about Virginia Tech is that I feel at home up there.”

When asked what the deciding factor will be in his decision, Neal said “it will be just a feeling I get.” He wants to make all official visits during his senior season, and a commitment could come as early as October.

“I want to take my official visits during my season,” Neal said. “I want to have a decision by the beginning of November or maybe late October.”
