Jack Britt (Fayetteville, NC) cornerback prospect Brandon Ghee will make his final two unofficial visits within the next two weeks when he goes to UNC and Wake Forest, respectively. Ghee has already made trips to six other schools, all of whom have offered him a scholarship.
“I’ve been to Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Tennessee, Duke, ECU, and Clemson,” said Ghee, who has been offered by all of the schools he’s visited. “I’m going to UNC this weekend and I’m going to Wake Forest in a couple of weeks.”
Following his remaining visits, Ghee hopes to narrow his list to just three schools. Right now, he says he isn’t close to narrowing his list at all but feels he will be ready to do so next month.
“Not at all,” Ghee said when asked if he had narrowed his list. “In three weeks I’ll know definitely who my top three are. I’ll decide after that. I should have a decision by the end of September. I think I’ve seen enough of the schools to where I don’t have to take official visits.”
Ghee visited Virginia Tech on July 10th. Led by primary recruiter Charley Wiles, Virginia Tech seemed to impress.
“Virginia Tech was very nice,” Ghee said. “I like the coaches a lot. They are very professional. [When I visited] they said ‘we want you to be a Hokie.’ The facilities are nice. They offer a great education of course. I was impressed.”
In addition to hitting the recruiting trail very hard, Ghee has been lifting weights and improving his already impressive speed. The 5-11 prospect is now up to 180 pounds and recently ran an excellent 40 time.
“Everything’s going good,” Ghee said. “I hope we have a good team that can make it to the state title. I’ve improved my footwork and speed. A trainer came down to work with me over the summer. I ran a 4.37 the other day with my coach. I’ve also been lifting. I know I’m stronger than I was last year. I’m up to 180 pounds, which is big for me. I want to get to 185 by the start of the season.”
Brandon seems relieved to have his unofficial visits almost completed. Stay tuned for the ensuing weeks to see which teams make his top 3 list. As far as out-of-state schools go, he seemed to really like his visit to Virginia Tech and especially liked the coaches. Another school to watch is Tennessee. Ghee grew up in Tennessee and knows a lot about the program.
