With a recent scholarship offer from the University of Tennessee, North Stafford High School’s (Stafford, VA) Tony North now boasts five total scholarship offers. Joining the Volunteers on this list are Virginia Tech, NC State, Virginia, and West Virginia. It’s been a successful Spring for North, who is busy learning as much as he can about each school that enters the recruiting process.

“Everything’s going fine,” North said of his recruiting process. “These are all great schools that have offered me. I’m taking an interest in a lot of schools. Right now I know a lot about football programs, so I’m trying to find out more about each school academically. Hopefully it will get me ready to make my decision.”

Other programs heavily recruiting the talented offensive lineman include Boston College, Maryland, and Pittsburgh. Two teams sit atop his favorites list, although North admits he is open to other programs.

“NC State and Virginia Tech are my top two,” North said. “I’ve given those two schools more attention than any others. They are my top two, but I’m not completely out from anyone else coming into the picture. I’m still seeing what my options will be.”

When asked if he has a favorite between the Hokies and Wolfpack, North said “it’s too close to tell right now.” He was able to say what he likes about both programs.

NC State does a great job of talking to me and sending me letters,” North said. “In fact, I just called Coach [Michael] Berry. I call them up to ask how everything’s going and to see when I can go down there. I’ve already been down there once, and I liked it.

“It’s the same way with Virginia Tech. I talk to the coaches a lot. I really like the campus. I know some people who go there and they have nothing but great things to say. I like all of the members of the coaching staff. I had a chance to talk to them down at the Spring game. I liked how the people treated me down there. The atmosphere was great. There were a lot of people there.”

North plans on making several more unofficial visits, including one to each of his top two. He will head to Virginia Tech and NC State this month and may visit other schools in June or later this summer.

“I know I’m visiting NC State and Virginia Tech in a week or two,” North said. “I’m going to try and see UVa, but I’m not sure if I’ll have time this month. I might visit some other schools later in the year.”

North is unsure when he will have a final decision. He wants
