One of the most productive players in the state of Virginia last season will attend the University of Virginia. Poquoson (VA) star tailback Josh Zidenberg has committed to Virginia as a recruited walk-on.
“Josh is committed to go to Virginia as a recruited walk-on,” Josh’s father, Eric Zidenberg said. “He’s excited about it. The opportunity to play offense was big for him. They are recruiting him as an H-back or a fullback.”
The 6-0, 210 pound Zidenberg rushed for 2,728 yards and 39 touchdowns as a senior this year. He earned VHSCA first-team all-state honors on the AA level. For his career, Zidenberg racked-up over 6,000 yards of total offense.
“Josh is a strong, good kid, who is a real leader for our team,” Poquoson Head Coach Don Ward said before last season. “He is really dedicated to football – he loves to play the game. He is a great running back but is a good defensive back and return man as well.”
Zidenberg chose the Cavaliers over scholarship offers from James Madison, The Citadel, and Stony Brook. He had also considered attending prep school before deciding on UVa.
Already qualified, Zidenberg carries a 3.6 grade point average and scored a 1,050 on the SAT.
