Providence (NC) running back Andrew Pearman made his official visit to the University of Virginia this weekend. Pearman had originally committed to the ‘Hoos before deciding to make other visits, and he will make one more trip before making a final decision.
“Virginia was a lot of fun,” Pearman said. He was hosted by his brother, junior running back Alvin Pearman. “This was different than my past experiences, because it was more of a business trip. It was good though.
“I’ve been on four visits in the past few weeks, and they have all been real nice. I don’t have any favorites yet, and I think I’ll stay away from having any favorites until I take all of my visits.”
Pearman will visit the University of Hawaii this upcoming weekend, and hopes to have a decision early the following week. He has made official visits to Army, South Carolina, Wake Forest, and Virginia.
“The father of one of my teammates is Defensive Backs Coach for the Carolina Panthers,” Pearman said. “He knows June Jones real well and recommended me to them. They usually don’t recruit this far away, but since I’m recommended they are going to do it. After that visit, I’ll definitely sit down and evalutate everything about each school. All of my choices are well-rounded, so I’ll look at everything.”
Pearman met with Virginia Head Coach Al Groh earlier today, and the two discussed Pearman’s recruitment.
“Coach Groh basically told me that since I’m not concrete anymore, they would have to recruit others so they aren’t left without anyone,” Pearman said. “I understand their position, but I can’t let that affect my decision making process.”
Pearman indicated that UVA did address the Running Backs Coaching situation, and he expects them “to name someone pretty soon. I’m just not sure who the coach will be yet.”
