Eastern Regional (Voorhees, NJ) Phil Trautwein had an excellent official visit to Florida this past weekend. The Gators, who are one of the top three schools, lived up to the 6-7, 300 pound offensive line prospect’s expectations.
“It went good, really good,” Trautwein said of his Florida visit. “I really wanted to go there, and it was everything I expected. I learned even more about the program as well. Coach [Ron] Zook is really nice. The players are really nice. Everything was great.”
Florida is Trautwein’s childhood favorite. After a successful official visit, it would look like the Gators are primed to land one of the top prospects in New Jersey. Trautwein indicated, however, that he is still weighing out his options.
“It’s real confusing, and that’s all I can say,” Trautwein said of his decision. “Michigan State and Virginia are still in it. All of my top three are still in the mix. I just need to think about it some more.”
Trautwein hopes to have a decision by the end of this week.
“I think I’m going to make my decision this Friday,” Trautwein said. “I’m not going to have a press conference. I’m just going to tell the coaches when I do decide.”
Trautwein really likes Florida a lot, however it appears he is still thinking about his decision, which is good for UVA and Michigan State. It will be interesting to see if he chooses his long-time favorite Florida, or if he goes with either the Cavaliers or the Spartans.
