One of the top running backs in the country is now ready to make his decision. JH Rose (Greenville, NC) star prospect Andre Brown , whose senior season solidified his spot among the top backs in the country, made an official visit to NC State this past weekend. It appears he had a good time on his visit, and is set to decide between the Wolfpack and the Virginia Cavaliers.
“Yeah I had a good time,” Brown said. “It was pretty much like any other normal official visit. I was hosted by [sophomore linebacker] Manny Lawson and [red-shirt freshman cornerback] AJ Davis. Those guys were both pretty cool. I talked with the coaches a lot including Coach Amato. Coach Amato has it working with the student athletes there. They have a great academic support system at NC State.
“The only difference between this one and the UVA official visit was that there was a football game at UVA during the week. The UVA coaches couldn’t put the time into me that they wanted to because they had to prepare for a game, but I still had fun.”
Both programs appear to be even at this point. He hopes to think about his decision this week and next up until January 21st, when he is scheduled to announce his choice on the Countdown to Signing Day Show.
“Virginia and NC State are both 1-A. They are tied neck-and-neck right now. Both schools are so similar. The only difference really is the new facility NC State has. That’s the only difference between NC State and Virginia. I really like both coaches and the staffs. It’s just going to come down to a gut feeling, and my gut’s confused right now. Man, it’s just going to be tough.”
UVA and NC State will make in-home visits this week to try and persuade the decision in their favor. UVA, led by Coach Al Groh and Coach Corwin Brown (Andre’s recruiting coach), comes in-home with Andre tonight. One point of emphasis for Andre will be finding out who the new UVA Running Back Coach will be, as former Running Backs Coach Kevin Ross has accepted the Offensive Coordinator position at Army.
“I would like to know who the Running Backs coach will be,” Brown said. “I want to know if it’s someone who has experience in coaching running backs before. I want to be able to learn as much off the field as I can on the field. To be honest, it might be a factor in my decision.”
NC State will make an in-home visit with Andre’s mother in Baltimore, Maryland....
