Deptford High School (NJ) star Michael Green has narrowed his list of schools to just three – Virginia Tech, Minnesota, and Indiana. The talented 6-1, 235 pound fullback/linebacker will make official visits to Indiana and Minnesota before making his decision.
“I’m down to three schools,” Green said. “I’m making official visits to Indiana on January 17th and Minnesota on January 31st. I’ll decide between those two and Virginia Tech.”
Green made an official visit to Virginia Tech on the weekend of December 12th-14th. He had named the Hokies as his clear leader, however wants to give the other two programs involved an equal chance before deciding.
“I’m considering all three equally,” Green said. “They are all about even in my mind. Virginia Tech was nice down there. I had a great time and loved my visit. But I’m going to give the others a chance to show me what they have also.”
Green will hold a press conference around Signing Day to announce his choice. One of the top prospects in the state of New Jersey, he earned many accolades including first-team all-state honors, Area Defensive Player of the Year, and South Jersey Defensive Player of the Year. Deptford finished the season undefeated at 12-0, capturing the South, Group 3 State Championship.
Virginia Tech is recruiting Green as a fullback/linebacker while Indiana and Minnesota want him strictly as a linebacker.
Jeff Green, who is Michael’s younger brother, may be getting big-time looks next season. Jeff, a junior, is a 6-3, 180 pound safety. He earned first-team all-group with his brother.
“Minnesota has already told my coach that they’ll be back to recruit Jeff,” Green said. “He’s also getting stuff from Virginia Tech, Indiana, Virginia, and some others.”
