Antwain Carey is anxious to get his recruiting process in full gear. He took a big step towards doing just that recently, when he set two official visits.
“I’ve set two visits,” Carey said. To help him with his decision, Carey will make each visit with his family. “This weekend, I’m going to NC State. I’ve scheduled an official visit to UNC for January 9th.”
Carey says he has received written offers from NC State and UNC, which offered him recently. Virginia Tech has extended a written scholarship as well, and he hopes Blacksburg will be one of his other official visits.
“Coach Stinespring stopped by and talked with me last Wednesday,” Carey said. “I’d like to make an official to Virginia Tech.
The three schools receiving official visits appear to be the three favorites at this point. Carey said he does not have any favorites between the three.
“Basically, the three teams that have offered me are the ones I’m considering,” Carey said. “I’m going to make my decision on who I can trust. I want to see if the schools aren’t going to be switching positions on me once I get there. I want to go to a school that wants me as a running back. I want to find out about the team, the coaches, and the campus.”
The 6-0, 205 pound tailback from Deep Creek High School (Chesapeake, VA) is one of the top prospects in the state of Virginia when healthy. He re-injured a foot after briefly returning to the field this season, and the injury will require surgery.
Carey plans on having the surgery soon, and it will be performed by a specialist from Charlotte, NC. Once he gets back to 100% health, he says “I want to work on getting my speed better, my awareness, and improving my catching ability.”
