Gar-Field (Woodbridge, VA) defensive end Clint Sintim has set one official visit, which will be to the University of Virginia on the weekend of December 13th. With his football season finished, he can now concentrate on setting up those remaining visits.
“I told everybody I’m going to set up most of my official visits as soon as my season is over,” Sintim said. “I’m going to be deciding on those very soon. Other schools I pretty much know I’ll visit are Maryland and Virginia Tech.”
Tennessee and Ohio State are likely candidates for the final two spots. Those schools join Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Maryland in Sintim’s current top five list.
“I’m probably going to end up visiting the same five I have listed now,” Sintim said. “I haven’t narrowed my list between those five. I definitely want to try to make all of my visits before I decide.”
Sintim has made unofficial visits to Virginia and Virginia Tech thus far, and plans on seeing both in action one more time this weekend. He is headed to the Virginia Tech at Virginia game, in what will be a battle between two schools who figure to be in the race for Sintim until the end.
“I’m going to try and head up to the game,” Sintim said. “Virginia beat Georgia Tech last week, so I want to see how they compare against Virginia Tech. I’m going to be watching how each team uses their defensive players as well as their offensive-type players…maybe it will give me a couple of tips before I make my decision.”
Virginia is recruiting the 6-3, 240 pound Sintim as an outside linebacker while Virginia Tech wants him as a defensive end. He seems comfortable with either position.
“The outside linebacker at Virginia is more like a defensive end anyway,” Sintim said. “They rush the passer a lot, so it’s not far off. Either one would be fine anyway, because I’m just looking for a place where I’d have the opportunity to play early. Virginia is telling me that if I prove myself I could play early. Virginia Tech hasn’t come out and said it, but I think if I got strong enough I would be able to play early. I’ve checked out their recruits and who they have there right now, so I think I could possibly play my first season. At either place, I know I would need to prove myself first.”
Maryland is also recruiting Sintim as...
