One school is out and one school is in for Eastern Regional (Voorhees, NJ) offensive lineman Phil Trautwein . Trautwein had previously scheduled an official visit to the University of Iowa for the weekend of December 12th.
The Hawkeyes are now out in favor of Tennessee, who recently made an official offer to the 6-7, 300 pound prospect.
“I’m going to Tennessee now on December 12th,” said Trautwein. “I like Tennessee because they are known for producing linemen. They are one of the great programs in the country. They have a great fan base and play in one of the best conferences in the country.”
Trautwein makes his second official visit this weekend, heading to Boston College. He has already made an official to Michigan State.
The Eagles were on the outside looking in until they recently accepted an invitation to join the Atlantic Coast Conference.
“Joining the ACC helps them,” said Trautwein. “If they had not joined the ACC, I probably wouldn’t be taking this visit. I like them but the Big East wouldn’t be as good because of the expansion.”
With his first three official visits filled, Trautwein says he will likely take his final two to Virginia and Virginia Tech. He is open to other schools, however.
“I don’t know yet who I might visit after Tennessee,” said Trautwein. “It might be Virginia and Virginia Tech. My options are open to any other schools that might offer, but it looks like those two.”
Miami (FL) and Notre Dame are actively recruiting Trautwein but have not offered. He has offers from Michigan State, Boston College, Tennessee, Virginia, and Virginia Tech. He has only visited, either officially or unofficially, Michigan State thus far.
Trautwein says he is open among his top schools and will decide after his visits.
