For 6-8, 210 power forward Jarhon Giddings of Blacksburg High School in Blacksburg, Virginia, the ABCD camp was sort of a microcosm of his spring and summer camp tour. This year is Giddings’ first ever experience on the camp circuit. It took some adjusting to the level of competition at the beginning, but gradually he has been able to feel more comfortable and has begun to play well.

The start of the ABCD camp was no different, as Giddings got off to a slow start. He became more comfortable by Thursday. It was then that he would have what was perhaps his best game of the tournament – a 12 point, 4 rebound, and 2 assist outing.

“Yeah, as the week goes on you get more and more comfortable with your teammates and playing against the competition,” said Giddings. “You know, I think that was my best game of the week. I got some jumpers to fall and everything. I’ve been struggling with the jumper, but fortunately it finally started going down for me.”

Giddings possesses a good-looking stroke from the perimeter. He does take some three point shots, however is not as consistent from behind the arc. Listed as a power forward because of his size and potential to get bigger and stronger, Giddings likes to hang around the perimeter like a small forward.

A good student, he carries a 3.1 grade point average and will easily qualify for NCAA eligibility. He has received offers from five schools including the hometown Virginia Tech Hokies.

“VT, VCU, Richmond, College of Charleston, and Duquesne have offered me,” said Giddings. “I don’t have any favorites – not yet. Hopefully I’ll decide by the fall.”

Giddings possesses very good skills, especially his outside shot. If he can develop a stronger body and a more polished inside game, Giddings could really become a complete player and be a force on the next level. He is rated a three-star player by and a two-star by
