Simeon (Chicago, IL) wide receiver Bryant Creamer is the big, strong receiver with great hands and good speed that attracts so many colleges. He is 6-3, 205 pounds, runs a 4.55 in the 40, and possesses a 40″ vertical leap.

A player with similar qualities, who Virginia fans know quite well, is current Philadelphia Eagle rookie Billy McMullen. According to Creamer, the Virginia coaches have compared him with the former All-American.

“That’s who Virginia says I remind them of,” said Creamer. “They say we have similar qualities.”

Creamer earned first-team all-city honors by the Chicago Sun-Times as a junior. He made over 40 receptions including 14 touchdowns.

Simeon Head Coach Alvin Scott says Creamer is “big and an outstanding athlete. He fights for the ball well and isn’t afraid to leave his feet.”

In addition to the obvious physical qualities, Creamer possesses a work ethic he likes to think separates him from other players.

“I think I work harder than anyone else,” said Creamer. “I work out with my teammates all of the time. I play hard every game and don’t take any plays off. In the off-season, I ran track and kept working out.”

Currently, Creamer has received three written scholarship offers, from Illinois, Cincinnati, and Bowling Green. Virginia is just one of the schools that has verbally offered. Purdue and Wisconsin are other schools who are heavily interested. Creamer claims no favorites however has set up two official visits.

“I have three official offers from Cincinnati, Illinois, and Bowling Green,” said Creamer. “Others have verbally offered by I haven’t received anything in the mail. I would say I’m pretty wide open now. I want to take some visits before deciding. I have set up trips to Illinois and Virginia. I think Virginia is the last week in November and Illinois is the first week in December.

“I will choose my school based on academics and sports. I want to major in Biology or Sports Medicine. Location matters a little bit because I don’t want to go where it’s very hot. I like cold weather – it’s football weather.”

One reason why Virginia is right in the thick of the recruiting race is special teams coach Corwin Brown. Brown, a native of Chicago, has developed a good relationship with Creamer.
