Deep Creek will have its star tailback ready to go this season. Antwain Carey , who discovered earlier this summer that he had a fracture in his foot, will have his cast taken off this week.
Carey is eager and ready to begin rehabilitation and hopes to return to the gridiron very soon.
“I’m ready to go,” said Carey. “I’m doing good…real good. I get out of the cast this Thursday. Then I’ll go through the rehabilition on my foot. I’m not sure how long that will take, but I should be playing again very soon.”
To stay in shape, the 6-0, 205 pound Tidewater star has been riding almost daily on an exercise bike. Carey would like to build on a successful junior campaign, when he rushed for over 1,100 yards.
As a senior, he is ready to lead his team to a successful season.
“Our team is looking good,” said Carey. “I’m going to lead this season, so our younger guys can continue the Deep Creek tradition.”
Carey still has only three offers on the table – Virginia Tech, Syracuse, and NC State. He remains open and wants to set up his visits once school begins.
“I haven’t had much contact with any school, although I did receive booklets from Syracuse and Virginia Tech recently,” said Carey. “I’m still pretty much open. I don’t really have any favorites. Once school starts, I will set up my official visits. I will also attend some football games, but I don’t know which ones yet.”
Virginia, Maryland, and UNC are just some other schools actively recruiting Carey. We will be sure to check back once the season starts to see how Carey is coming along on the field and when he will make his visits.
