Morristown-Hamblen High School West (Morristown, TN) prospect Brandon Fanney is a versatile defensive line prospect. Conference Defensive Player of the Year as a junior, the 6-5, 261 pound Fanney can play the end or tackle positions.
He is a force at either position.
“Brandon plays a sort of combination defensive end/defensive tackle for us,” said Morristown head coach Don Woods. “He plays on the edge mostly. He has great speed (4.7 in the 40), long arms, and is a disruptor for us.
“The best thing about Brandon is that he has a great motor. He plays hard every play. He is a great kid.”
Fanney, who earned first-team all-state honors as well, has received four scholarship offers.
“Brandon has offers from Virginia, Virginia Tech, Alabama, and NC State,” said Woods. “I don’t think he really has any particular favorite school right now. He is just going to play his season and have a good time. I think he’s going to make an excellent player on the next level though.”
As a junior, Fanney made 82 tackles including 18 quarterback sacks. Florida State and Georgia are among the other schools actively pursuing one of the top defensive line prospects in the state of Tennessee.
More to come next week with an interview with Brandon.
