Top Target: Sean Glennon

A common theme throughout this spring when focusing on top prospects has been the number of top quarterbacks in the state of Virginia. Westfield’s Sean Glennon , Hopewell’s Lee Bujakowski, Colonial Forge’s Randy Hippeard, Western Branch’s Ryan Pond, and Bath County’s Jacob Phillips are the consensus top five quarterbacks in the state.

Not too much separates the four of Glennon, Bujakowski, Hippeard, and Pond, while Phillips may be more of an athlete. One has to be rated the best, and in my early state rankings, that player was Sean Glennon .

Glennon’s most glaring strength is his accuracy. Over the past two seasons, he has thrown for a combined 42 touchdowns with only seven interceptions. His completion percentage over that span has been around 65%. Glennon’s tremendous accuracy enables Westfield to run a very efficient offense with a good mix of run and pass.

“We run a multiple receiver offense, but honestly, coach [Tom Verbanic] likes to run the ball more,” said Glennon. “We have talented perimeter players and will usually go to a 3 or 4 receiver set. I’m always under center. We usually throw the ball around 20-25 times a game, with no fancy passes…everything is pretty basic.
