Three down, two to go. Tonight, Bethel defensive end Chris Ellis returned from his official visit to Tennessee. This was his third official visit of the five he intends on taking.
Ellis was impressed with the Volunteers, however the beginning-of-the-week visit was a different experience.
“I had a real good time,” said Ellis. “They have some really expensive stuff up there. The stadium, the weight room, and everything is awesome. The visit itself was a little different from the rest. Some of the players had class and couldn’t go out the last night, and some coaches were flying out on recruiting trips. I didn’t like that aspect of it.”
Despite Tennessee’s impressive facilities, the visit wasn’t enough to vault the Volunteers to the top of Ellis’s list.
“I would say the visit was about the same as the Maryland visit,” said Ellis. “They were both behind the Virginia visit.”
Ellis will visit Virginia Tech this weekend and still plans on visiting NC State on the 31st.
Hoping to decide around signing day, Ellis feels his decision will likely come down to three schools.
“I’m not really sure, but my decision will probably come down to Maryland, Virginia, and Virginia Tech,” said Ellis. “I will visit NC State, and signing day is on the following Wednesday, so you can expect a decision sometime in between there. I’ll sit down and weigh them all.”
Judging from Ellis’ comments, it appears Tennessee may be eliminated from the race. NC State is also on the outside looking in, and I believe this race will come down to the two in-state schools.
