CJ Byrd

Notes: Byrd is one of the top wide receiver prospects in the country. An outstanding two-way player, he could play safety on the next level as well. As a junior, Byrd made 37 receptions for 567 yards and two touchdowns. He made 92 tackles, two sacks, and had two interceptions from the strong safety positon on defense. Earned all-area and all-conference honors as a junior.

Coach Joe Long: "CJ is 6-3, 185 pounds close to 190. He's a 4.6 40 kid. He plays wide receiver and strong safety for us. He plays special teams where he's a tremendous kick and punt returner. We never take him off the field. He does a bit of everything for us. What impresses so many schools is that he plays both ways. He has great hips and he turns really well. He's not afraid to go across the middle to catch a pass and, defensively, he likes to hit. Most of all, he's a great kid. The students love him, the teachers love him, and he's a coaches dream."
