A.J. Wallace

Notes: As a junior last season, Wallace rushed for 1,260 yards. He has totaled 2,360 yards rushing combined over his sophomore and junior season. As a defensive back, he has tallied six interceptions over the past two seasons.

A star in track and field, Wallace has been timed at 10.68 in the 100 meters. He made it to the state championships in that event as a sophomore.

Coach Dave Bradshaw: “Obviously his ability to move as well as he does for being a decent size kid, but offensively he just has great vision. He’s able to really see the field. Things slow down for him out there and you just can’t coach that. He’s able to look and see things and he’s able to hit seams and just get downhill quick. He’s a pretty elusive runner. We try to get him the ball however we can. We kind of use him a little bit at receiver too. We normally don’t line up him right at receiver, but we use him out of the backfield and we’ll motion him out and go into a four receiver set with him. So he has played some receiver for us too. He’s just our go-to-guy.

“Defensively, he makes plays for us. He plays corner and safety. If we play a Cover 3 he plays corner for us. If we’re in Cover 2 or Cover 4 he plays some safety. As a sophomore he played some strong safety for us too and we had him up in the box a lot more, but we didn’t do that as much with him this year.”
