Virginia Tech opens spring practice this afternoon at 4pm on the practice fields next to Lane Stadium. It will be the first of 15 practices the team conducts this spring, including the Spring Game.

Before the practice, Frank Beamer will be available to the media for the first time since late November. We’ll have more on that interview tonight. Players and other coaches will be available for interviews for the first time on Thursday.

The Spring Game will be held at 2pm on Saturday, April 25. Admittance is free, as usual. However, you don’t have to wait until April 25 to see the Hokies play. There will be three open scrimmages on the previous Saturdays.

Saturday, April 4: 10:45am
Saturday, April 11: 10:45am
Saturday, April 18: 10:45am

On many occasions you can learn more from watching the team during open scrimmages than you can from watching the Spring Game, simply because the first team offense and defense are generally split in half during the Spring Game.

We’ll have more coverage of spring practice tonight, as well as the coming weeks.
