TSL announces new contributors for 2014-15

TechSideline.com is excited to announce the addition of several new contributors for our coverage this coming year. Football season is coming, and we’re ramping up.

In this overcrowded Internet marketplace of Virginia Tech football and basketball coverage, we’re always seeking ways to improve what we do, set ourselves apart from the competition, and bring value to both our subscribers and non-subscribers alike. With that being our focus, we bring you the following additions to our coverage this fall. Some details still need to be ironed out, but here’s the direction we’re headed:

Addition of Jacob Emert as staff intern: Jacob Emert will be helping us out this year with game day coverage, press conference coverage, and various other content pieces on TSL. Jacob will also contribute to InsideTheACC.com, and that content will appear here on TSL as well. Jacob is a senior Communications major at Virginia Tech. He was the sports editor at the Collegiate Times in 2013-14, and he has interned for the New York Daily News in summer 2012 for Baseball America in 2014. Follow JacobĀ  on Twitter at @JacobEmert.

Regular Features from Chris Colston (TSL Pass): Former Hokie Huddler editor Chris Colston will be writing twice-monthly features for TechSideline.com. Chris’ contributions to the site will chronicle the rise of Virginia Tech football and promises to be fascinating work, as he’ll bring you in-depth interviews and features about the people and events that shaped Virginia Tech football into what it is today. Chris is a decorated sports writing veteran. He was the editor of the Hokie Huddler for 11 years (1985-1996), worked at USA Today for 13 years (1996-2009), and produced three editions of The Hokie Annual from 2010-2012. Follow Chris on Twitter at @HokieFootballCC.

Post-game Analysis from “GMSAHokie” (TSL Pass): In the past, GMSAHokie has provided us with the Blue Collar Breakdown, scouting reports, and other features. This football season, we’re shifting him to post-game analysis and applying his talents to breaking down key aspects of games.

Infographics from “OXVT” and video support from “VTPhreak4evr”: In the spirit of “crowdsourcing” with the TSL community, we’ve got long-time TSL members OXVT and VTPhreak4evr lined up to help with fun infographics (OXVT) and video support (VTPhreak4evr). OXVT (@OX_VT on Twitter) will highlight statistics and trends with catchy graphics (see this feature from the other day, if you missed it), and VTPhreak4evr will provide video editing and upload to our YouTube account, to support our analysis, highlight key moments in games, and bring you other features you might have missed.

All this is in addition to the usual outstanding coverage from Chris Coleman, Chris Horne, and site founder Will Stewart. Staff photographer Ivan Morozov (Russian Hokie), who has been contributing photography to the site since 2003, returns again this year to capture all the action and pageantry of Virginia Tech athletics.
