Watch list season is officially upon us, so be prepared to see a few Virginia Tech players floated around on watch lists. On Monday, Tremaine Edmunds was the first, being named to the Bednarik Award watch list. The Bednarik Award is given every year to the nation’s top defensive player.

Edmunds, a junior for this upcoming season, started all 14 games for Virginia Tech as a sophomore, finishing with 106 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. Edmunds also intercepted one pass and forced a fumble last season.

Virginia Tech returns most of their defense from last season, and Edmunds may just be the best one of the bunch. Along with Tremaine, Terrell Edmunds, Brandon Facyson, Andrew Motuapuaka and Adonis Alexander, the Tech defense returns seven starters and several more contributors from last season.
