On Wednesday, a report surfaced that claimed Virginia Tech would travel to Florida State to open their 2018 football season.
That report seems to be accurate.
Source says #Hokies will play at Florida State on Labor Day weekend in 2018. Not 100% finalized as being on Labor Day itself, however.

When TSL reached out to Virginia Tech for comment on this report, an official spokesman said, “I don’t have any definitive information one way or another at this point.”
Virginia Tech has not played Florida State in the regular season since 2012, when the Hokies hosted the Seminoles in a primetime matchup at Lane Stadium.
